His latest walkabout landed him in the shelter and we were contacted by the shelter from his microchip. (Last week we were contacted by a vet office from his microchip) When contacting the adopter, was told that 'gunshots' were what had him on the run. The shelter states that Gator is extremely over weight, so he must not be 'working' as was his job on the cattle farm. Well, Gator must have been unhappy and unsupervised to run / walk away. Obviously, uncared for, if he was not 'bailed' out of doggie jail. That's okay, as it must have been Gator's way of getting back here. Gator will be 8 years old in January xxxx. 7-23-10 Gator was born in AR in January xxxx. Gator was pick of the litter, as his owner wanted a working ACD for the farm. His owner said that Gator had a good start on his training, but had mauled a kitten or two, and had to go. So, Gator was given up to a returning veteran from Iraq, who also wanted a working dog for his family's farm. Gator stayed there about a year and a half, but was given up when the veteran returned to college on campus, is what was told to us. So, Gator went to another family where he stayed a month or so, then returned back to the original farm and owner. The owner felt is was not fair for Gator to live on a chain, so rescue contact was made before surrender to the pound. Gator loves to ride, especially on the Gator. He rides in the cab of the farm machinery and the pick up trucks. We were told that Gator also saved his owners life by running interference between him and an angry xxxx# Bull. Gator is neutered and overweight, at 74 pounds. He is started on LITE food, along with Belle. Daily exercise and diet should help him to get back into shape. Gator seems to like the other dogs here, but has been known to not get along with intact males. (There was an intact male at the former owners farm. Not Gator's fault.) Gator has been known to nip the show horses noses when they stick their heads over or through the fence. Gator is socializing with Belle, Forest, and Sydny. Gator has been raised around kids. Gator is also HW negative. Our adoption fee covers the spay / neutering, heart worm testing, rabies, distemper combo, microchipping and any other medical that a dog may need.
